Plaids, tweeds, paisleys, checks, stripes, Jacobean inspired florals, and modern damask prints all based in a palette of rich camels, navy, and pale aquas accented with pops of coral and apple green all combine for the perfect recipe of classically chic and traditionally timeless design. The mixture of brightly colorful accents against the refined navy and camel tones as well as exaggerated pattern scales combined with a rich variety of textural accents keeps the color scheme of this home feeling lively. A hefty dose of the client’s inherited antiques juxtaposed with modern accents and accessory items make this the perfect pairing for this young and style savvy family with a respect for traditional roots. See a peek at how our designers worked at brainstorming the room-to-room flow in order to keep an aesthetic consistency in each space in a floor plan that felt compartmentalized and “choppy” as the narrow foyer led to a smaller entry space then an internal keeping room with no windows which branched off into the dining, kitchen, and sunroom/den, etc. With a layout so segmented it was important to utilize consistency in the color scheme so that there was not so much separation between spaces (i.e. creating things such as the “blue room” and then the “green room” where spaces change up the color emphasis or style significantly from the space adjacent). It is important when designing a whole house layout to consider even the tiniest details of the space before- in this case, a chair fabric of one space becomes a contrast piping on a pillow in an adjoining to create unification.
