From the Designer’s Desk: Sentimental Pieces and Artwork Based Designs

This beautiful room was based around the colors and whimsical feel of a painting of the Gates exhibit in NYC where this particular customer and her husband met.The goal here was to create a space that was sophisticated, serene, and casually elegant and that called the fun and vibrant colors of the artwork into play without making the space feel over saturated. Other considerations were the true blue walls and color scheme of the dining room open to this living space from across the foyer as well as a casual and kid-friendly vibe. The end result was custom Tilton Fenwick panels that provided the source for all of the colors to intermingle and tailored and streamlined “pops” of orange and blue in accent pillows on neutral upholstered silhouettes. Still to be incorporated are some upholstered ottomans in front of the fire place out of a blue and white geometric pattern (see picture below) and more blue and white pottery along the mantle and piano top but we are absolutely loving this progress picture our wonderful client sent our way!
